New Jersey Composting Council (NJCC) is a 501c6 organization which derives funds from memberships, events, and grants. Grants are an integral part of the NJCC’s fundraising efforts. Recognizing that grants are a priority revenue source for nonprofits, the NJCC will pursue certain projects through grant funding. NJCC will seek partnerships for grant funded projects but may also direct grant applications as the fiscal entity.
NJCC members are encouraged to provide ideas and potential grant opportunities to the NJCC.
Qualifying Grants
The NJCC will pursue grants that are of an education, advocacy or research nature specifically relating to organics waste recycling, composting and utilization of compost or associated byproducts.
Procedures
NJCC staff will approach the NJCC Board for review and pre-approval prior to a grant application. The purpose for this review process is to ensure that specific grants meet the standards of this policy. Approval will remain in effect for a specific grant for future years unless the Board removes approval
Funding
The NJCC will provide services as part of a grant funded project for a fee in line with the costs of staffing the project. Staffing will be done internally and if required outside services will be retained for specific tasks.
Financial Controls
The NJCC will comply with all federal and state insurance requirements and will reconcile its financials through use of a third party accounting firm on an annual basis. The NJCC will report to the NJCC Board on financials including providing the Board quarterly reporting and annual financial reports.
For further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the NJCC Board.
