Join us for our next Compost Café on May 8th at 10am EDT to celebrate International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW)!
ICAW is the largest and most comprehensive education initiative in the compost industry. The goal is to work together to raise public awareness on why we all should be composting our organics and using compost. Throughout the week of ICAW, community, school, government, and business events are held to encourage and celebrate composting - all types of composting – from backyard to large-scale.
This year, ICAW partnered with the International Compost Alliance (ICA) to select the theme: For Healthier Soil, Healthier Food…Compost!
Join us as we share stories from New Jersey counties, communities & businesses on diverting food waste, educating about the benefits of sustainable organics management and celebrating ICAW!

This legislation applies to commercial food wholesalers, distributors, industrial food processors, supermarkets, resorts, conference centers, banquet halls, restaurants, educational or religious institutions, military installations, prisons, hospitals, medical facilities, and casinos. State Senate takes up legislation that requires large generators to source separate and recycle food waste.
The NJCC got the word out and advocated on behalf of the Food Waste Legislation including speaking to the folks at BioCycle.
Gonzalez emphasizes “the time has come for this legislation to be passed,” and encourages NJCC members and others to “call your senator today and urge them to support A2371/S865. Tell them you don’t accept anything less than recycling of our organics! Tell them you support generating truly clean energy, amending and rehabilitating our soils, and keeping methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, out of the environment.”
